Attach the 20-inch board to the back legs to create the backrest support. Then, attach the two 24-inch boards across the backrest support with wood glue and screws to create the backrest.

Step 6: Sand and Finish

Sand all rough edges with 120 and 220 grit sandpaper. Apply waterproof wood sealer or paint to protect the chair from the elements and enhance its appearance.
